Dando Alas : Giving Wings

“He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye, like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them on its pinions.” (Deut. 32:10-11)

Alas eStudio ("Wings" Studio) is a creative studio in Barcelona, so named because of its primary goal of giving wings to young Christian painters, designers, writers, and filmmakers. The studio serves them by providing a time and a place to work, both alone and in collaboration with other artists. Alas eStudio also provides a forum for their work through the ministry of Agape (Campus Crusade for Christ in Spain) and through exhibitions at the studio and in Barcelona. Finally, through readings, studies, discussions, and joint projects, we will think together about the current philosophic and aesthetic state of the arts and the unique calling of a Christian artist.

Dando Voz : Giving Voice

Alas eStudio serves the campus ministry of Agape Spain, giving creative voice to its efforts through brochures, webpages, and films.

Dando Ojos : Giving eyes to see and ears to hear

“And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.... Make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” (Colossians 4:3-6)

Alas eStudio will be a sanctuary for those students in Barcelona who are harried and are hungry for peace with God. We are working together to make the studio a place of beauty, rest, and reflection in the city where, through the arts, these students can consider whether it is Jesus who is the true risen savior of Caravaggio’s “Doubting Thomas”, the hope for Munch’s interminable “Scream,” and the life for Van Gogh’s longing peasant “At Heaven’s Gate”.
