Peli2003

D|E|N|O|U|E|M|E|N|T Peli 2003 wrapped on July 12th, 2003, after six weeks of long, hard hours creating four short films and "Delivery," our thirty minute feature. Together we enjoyed countless moments of hilarity and discovery, exhaustion and exhiliration. You can share the memories by viewing our photo diary or reading Jimmy's comic epilogue (mixed media, on toilet paper). Three of our short films were accepted for the Damah Film Festival 2003. Delivery will be completed in Summer 2004. Peli2003 will be reprised this summer in NYC with a project for filmmakers, illustrators, photographers and more. Contact transFORM for more information.

B|A|C|K|S|T|O|R|Y A generation of postmoderns succumbs to cynicism, doubting that in this bittersweet world there is any other Way. But, there is a place where they go every day en masse — for a laugh, for distracion, and often, for a touch of transcendence. It is not the church. It is the movie theater. But there they find mostly cursing the darkness. Meanwhile, in the bowels of Barcelona, a gathering of Christian creators brighten the dark, gray streets of the Gothic Quarter. In New York, under the ashen aftermath of September 11th, a crew of students offers a lasting hope to New Yorkers through art and film. Their mission: to give "new eyes to see and ears to hear."

T|H|E P|L|O|T This Summer, Alas Studio and the NYC Metro Media Cru are partnering together for an unprecendented film project. Twenty-five student artists and filmmakers from Europe and the US will spend seven weeks in Barcelona creating several short films, telling stories that are both hopeful and true because they are God's Story. After briefing, each student will pitch their best story, the best of which we'll turn into several shorts. Then we'll take a breather, with a week long focus on the spiritual life. Our skills primed and our spirits attuned to the Spirit's leading, we will invest our blood and sweat into creating a compelling short film of about thirty minutes. The project fades out with rest and reflection and a screening of the roughcut of our flm.

C|H|A|R|A|C|T|E|R|S Our mission is twofold: to develop each student who particapates as a protagonist for Christ and to use the films we create to gain an audience for the Good News. During the project we will dig deep into God's story for guidance and inspiration. We will study the parables and learn from Jesus, the master storyteller. We will watch and reflect upon great films. Several guest lecturers will share how they have integrated their faith and their passion for art and culture. When we wrap the films, we will submit them to select international film festivals and online film sites and we will show them through the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ in New York, in Spain, and elsewhere. Each student who attends will leave the summer a more noble character in God's story and better able to tell God's story through art and film.

B|A|C|K|I|N|G You can't make movies without moolah. We are actively seeking investors who believe as we do that God's story is the best story ever told. When we wrap our project, we will send you our films and a video diary of the project so that you can share in the experience and see the fruit of your investment. Please prayerfully consider investing in this effort to bring glory to our great God and to develop a new generation of Christian filmmakers who will continue to bring light to the darkened theater long after the summer is over. We need you. If you know anyone else who'd be interested in supporting this project, please let us know so that we can contact them.
